Wadi Hanifa – وادي حنيفة
We drove around a really interesting area of Riyadh called Wadi Hanifa. It is an area with historic and traditional buildings, parks and paths for walking. I loved entering this area and seeing the modern buildings on one side and the very old structures on the other.
Take a look at some of the amazing pictures that Y took as we drove around Wadi Hanifa. In sha Allah next time we will visit during the daytime and I’ll be able to give you another look at this beautiful place.
As we drove around we saw so many people sitting outside with a small fire and some where even playing a game of cards. It was about 2am, but you could smell the delicious smokey scent of barbecue or the fruity essence of shisha. We even passed a group of teenagers playing a game of soccer on one of the roads.
I think this is something beautiful about Saudi culture. They take the time to do these things with family and friends even if it means being tired the next day. This was the weekend so I imagine it wouldn’t be as busy during the week, but staying up until 4 or 5 in the morning on the weekend still makes it hard to switch back to the weekday sleep schedule. The time spent with those that we love and enjoying our time is worth being a little tired when we go back to work. I think this is such a lovely view of life.
